Major Medical Insurance

Major medical is personal health insurance for individuals and families under age 65. It is not guaranteed issue. You have to answer health questions as it is medically underwritten. Using networks can save you money. A referral is not required to see a specialist. The initial premium is usually guaranteed for 12 months. Your children can be covered until they reach the age of 26.

Short Term Medical Plans

These are health plans for:

• Recent graduate or student no longer eligible under parent's health insurance plan
• Retired early and needing a bridge to Medicare eligibility
• Waiting for other coverage to begin
• Between jobs or out of work

Short Term Medical Plans do not cover pre-existing conditions. The cost is usually less than Major Medical Plans. You can get a plan for 1 month and up to 11 months.
